Sparkke at the Whitmore is our first venue and one of Australia’s first female founded and led brew pubs. Here, makers are celebrated, including our own talented team.

As we head towards summer, our Rooftop Bar and Fire Grill is Adelaide’s best location for our house speciality spritzes, 100% natural brews or delicious piping hot food.

OUR BREWERY

Welcome to the little 25m2 brewhouse with the pink floor! Our nanobrewery is a centrepiece, visible from almost everywhere on the ground floor. You can see, hear and smell whatever is brewing.

 

It’s not surprising that our brewer, Carla Naismith, is deeply passionate about her craft and driven by the company’s ethos of creating 100% natural, highly sessionable brews that are balanced and long on the palette.


A lifelong craft beer nerd, Carla’s interest in brewing took a fully professional turn in early 2017 when she joined Sweet Amber Brewing. In 2018 she began a dialogue with Sparkke that led to her appointment as the company’s assistant brewer in 2019 with a focus on the small batches brewed in the pub’s nano-brewery. In March 2020 Carla became Sparkke’s Brewer.

 

Working with Sparkke’s Co-founder, Rose Kentish, Carla delivers two new and exciting specialty brews per month for your enjoyment.

 

On most days, you’ll find Carla at work in her ‘happy place’ the pink brewing floor here at the pub.

Dine at fare

Sparkke at the Whitmore’s award-winning restaurant was officially christened as fare on the venue’s first birthday. And appropriately for a female led kitchen, this was also International Womens Day 2020.

 

Awarded ‘Best New Restaurant’ in South Australia’s 2019 Delicious Hottest 100, Chef Water delivers an exciting fusion of contemporary Australian food styles with modern Asian influences. Our new menu gives more than a passing nod to her Taiwanese heritage. We celebrate clean, balanced flavours of beautifully crafted food, through a locally sourced seasonal menu that supports the restaurant’s relaxed atmosphere.

 

Sustainability is a big focus within fare's kitchen, allowing us to close the loop, look at food holistically, and refine systems to minimise waste. Our ethos aims to showcase the incredible local producers we work with, while minimising our own carbon footprint.

 

At its most simple, fare means food, and we welcome everyone to come and enjoy a meal with us.

Fare will be exclusively taking bookings for Friday & Saturdays only to a Feed Me Menu only, where our talented kitchen team will take you on a unique journey showcasing South Australia's very special small producers. Please note there is a 10 person booking limit for dining.

OUR ROOFTOP FIRE-GRILL

We're proud of the kitchen team here at Sparkke at the Whitmore. Our team's rich and diverse history reflects our values of inclusivity, passion for excellence and individuality.

 

This summer we’re delighted to welcome Alana Brabin back to our rooftop fire-grill. She’s the Queen of heat and provides plenty of cooking theatre while bringing you an amazing selection of vibrant street foods from around the world.  

 

Upstairs too we pride ourselves on sourcing fresh, local produce, supporting independent farmers, and working passionately towards a minimal-waste, socially conscious kitchen across the venue.

 

You’ll see this ethos at work. All of our wood is sustainably sourced and the menu has been developed to maximise every delicious morsel of our brilliant, local produce. It all works in harmony to deliver another memorable experience with friends and family at The Whitmore.


FUNCTIONS & EVENTS

Everything we do at the Whitmore is driven by our passion for excellence, and genuine care for others. This shows up in our award-winning restaurant, brews, events and the beautiful award-winning environment of the Whitmore.

 

Under COVID-19 restrictions of 1 person per four square meters, we are able to host private functions, for up to 50 people in either our upstairs or our downstairs area. OUR GROWLER PROGRAM

Our growlers (1.9 Litre bottles) are up and running! We’re filling Growlers fresh with our delicious specialty brews so that you can take them home in this great, reusable, refillable alternative. It’s as simple as coming into our bottleshop, paying a $10 deposit for your takeaway growler and filling up to take home. Then bring it back when you are ready to refill.

 

Handy Tips:

  • It's really important this product stays cold, it’s all-natural and full of all the good stuff, let's treat it nicely.
  • It's a fermented and carbonated product! Please ensure it's kept upright at all times, so don't let it roll around in your car.
  • The growler is freshly filled! For the best taste, we recommend drinking it within 3 weeks of filling and to get the best carbonation levels, drink it all within 24 hours of opening!
  • Return your growler bottle and get your $10 deposit back! Better yet, come in and refill your growler with a new brew from our micro-brewery.
